The magnet is very strong; it helps protect the glass back.
This connects to my phone through the case very well. I actually bought this for a dual purpose: one, to hold cards/notes/bits of this size, and two, to further protect the glass at the back of my phone, as my last phone's back glass shattered very easily when I accidentally dropped it. I figure one more layer to buffer/protect all of the glass in current phones can’t hurt. It is a great value for the money, the magnet strength is strong, it fits great, and functions as it should.
